About a month ago I wrote both of my Texas Senators to voice my objections about not getting a raise on our social security checks for the coming year. After about 2 weeks I finally got a response from Sen. John
Cornin. I am still waiting to hear from Kay Baily Hutchinson. Sen.
Cornins response was, that there was a formula by which the raise would be approved or denied, and this year the criteria was not met to give out raises. My question is "why is not the same formula used to give congress a raise". This may not be such a sore spot with me if it was tax dollars that was paying my S.S., but this is money that has been coming out of my paycheck for 51 years. It's my money. Why can't I have it. If I had the opportunity to invest that money on my own, plus matching funds from my employee, I could be living high on the hog today. Sen.
Cornin, all it would take is one majority vote in congress to change that formula. So I would recommend that congress get some backbone and take care of this countries elderly. I also noticed that the
obama health care plan would eliminate all medicare advantage plans, of which my wife and I are on. This plan is cheaper than medicare and also includes a
prescription drug plan. So much for what I have heard all my life, that the democrats are for the working man.
